David Papel is a singer and actor based out of St. Louis, MO. He is completing his Bachelor of the Fine Art in Musical Theatre at Webster University’s Sargent conservatory of Theatre Arts.

You can call me Dave,

David was born in London Ontario, Canada. He immigrated to the United States when he was 4 years old, the larger part of his life was spent in the greater Seattle Washington area.

David discovered theatre when he was in fourth grade. He credits his older sister as the spark of inspiration for persuading him to audition in the elementary school production of Alice in Wonderland. At ten years old, David played the White Rabbit, however at this point in his life he was already sucked into a lot of different extracurricular activities, including Chess club, Soccer, basketball and Orchestra. He would focus on Soccer as his main hobby for the next five years. It wasn’t until 7th grade summer that once again his sister would inspire him to audition for a community theatres production of High School Musical.

“I just happened to be in the car… I remember how much fun I had playing the white rabbit, so I wanted to give it a shot but I didn’t have a song or monologue prepared.”

With the help of his mother and his older sister, they told him to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and to monologue the alphabet. He has been doing musical theatre ever since.

Eventually he saw his hobbies start to dwindle and new ones start to form as he participated more and more with the theatre scene in his community. He was in over 20 shows over the course of 6 years performing with middle school, high school, and community productions. Outside of theatre, he would collaborate with friends to write songs and create short form content. He was a part of a web-series on YouTube that he and 5 other friends would write, produce and act in.

When it was time to think about college, he spent a summer in Boston Massachusetts at Emerson College to see if theatre school would be right for him. Although he loved his time in Boston, David would audition for over 20 musical theatre University’s and eventually landed on a school in St. Louis Missouri, Webster University.
